God's radicals | PEOPLE of the week
They'd enter the halls of the Pharaoh, sent by "I AM."
They'd march 13 times around impenetrable walls.
They'd run up mountains to destroy cities of giants.
They'd stand before the tallest Goliath, with five pebbles and a sling.
They'd rebuke the mightiest kings, even if it cost them their lives.
They'd accept life's fiery furnaces and lion's dens, that God alone might be praised.
They'd give themselves to be crucified before giving themselves to the world.
They are the radicals . . .
They subdue kingdoms.
They pursue righteousness.
They stop lions' mouths.
They quench the violence of fire.
They wax valiant in fight, turning to flight the armies of Satan.
They're tortured with cruel mockings and scourgings, bonds and imprisonments.
They wander about in deserts, mountains, dens, and caves, in sheepskins and goatskins.
They are the radicals . . .
They're always striving for the patience of Job
the faith of Abraham
the submissiveness of Sarah
the meekness of Moses
the courage of Caleb
the strength of Joshua
the dedication of Ruth
the eagerness of David
the wisdom of Solomon
the unquenchableness of Elijah
the decisiveness of Micaiah
the steadiness of Daniel
the obedience of Ezekiel
the power of John the Baptist
the boldness of Peter
the forgiveness of Stephen
the confidence of Paul
the trustworthiness of Timothy and
the love of John.
They are the radicals . . .
They take Jesus seriously.
They trust and obey—whatever He commands.
They follow—wherever He leads.
They speak—no matter the consequences.
They'd gladly give up their food, clothing, and drink that their enemies might live.
When persecuted, they praise.
When reviled, they rejoice.
When hated, they love.
They are the radicals . . .
They're called Christians, for they walk in His steps.
They're called disciples, for they take joy in bearing the cross.
They're called soldiers, for they valiantly fight God's battles.
They're called servants, for they deem slavery to God as one of their highest callings.
They're called sons, for God is not ashamed to be called their Father.
They've left their jobs as fishermen to "fishformen," because they care about souls.
They have no interests, passions, or concerns that are not entirely God's as well.
They've lost their lives, and they're not trying to find 'em.
Though they fall seven times, they'll still get back up and keep fighting.
Their entire lives have been radically transformed by the the Great Creator of the universe.
They are the least of the very least, and yet God's most-beloved jewels.
And they know that one day, they shall fall before their King in unashamed glory, exalted and exalting for all eternity!
They are God's radicals . . .
. . . and the world is not worthy of them!
Happy birthday, Anna!
