And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: for I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: for I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed! And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. 24 | NUMBER of the week

Image
Bible The Hebrew Bible contains 24 books (not 39). Baasha reigned in Israel for 24 years (1 Kings 15:33). One of King David's nephews (called Jonathan) killed a huge man who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, thus twenty-four in all (2 Samuel 21:20-21). King David had the priests and the musicians arranged into 24 divisions each (1 Chronicles 24-25). The gospel of Luke, which has been divided into 24 chapters, is actually the longest book in the New Testament if calculated according to the number of words. In heaven, John saw 24 elders sitting on 24 thrones around the throne (Revelation 4:4). Language 24 is XXIV in Roman numerals and  二十四 in Chinese symbols. The Greek alphabet contains 24 letters. History At the age of 24, William Pitt became the British Prime Minister. In 1821, Missouri became the 24th state to join the union. When Charles Dickens was 24, his  Pickwick Papers  began to be published in installments. Riddle: Grover Cleveland

“In the Sweet By and By” | HYMN of the week

Words: Sanford F. Bennett Music: Joseph P. Webster Year: 1868 There’s a land that is fairer than day, And by faith we can see it afar; For the Father waits over the way To prepare us a dwelling place there. We shall sing on that beautiful shore The melodious songs of the blessed; And our spirits shall sorrow no more, Not a sigh for the blessing of rest. To our bountiful Father above, We will offer our tribute of praise For the glorious gift of His love And the blessings that hallow our days. In the sweet by and by, We shall meet on that beautiful shore; In the sweet by and by, We shall meet on that beautiful shore. "And they shall see his face" Revelation 22:4
