Image
As of the date of this post, these are my favorite ten national anthem melodies. This ranking was made based on my preference for the music without respect to any of the words of these anthems. The purpose of this post is to share good melodies, not to inspire patriotism toward any earthly nation. So here goes the countdown! 10. Namibia 9. Bahamas 8. Russia 7. United States 6. Tanzania / Zambia / South Africa (half) 5. Kosovo 4. Wales 3. Germany 2. Netherlands 1. United Kingdom / New Zealand (one of two) / Liechtenstein "fear thou the LORD and the king" Proverbs 24:21

Into the woods my Master came, Forspent with love and shame. But the olives they were not blind to Him, The little gray leaves were kind to Him: The thorn-tree had a mind to Him When into the woods He came. Out of the woods my Master went, And He was well content. Out of the woods my Master came, Content with death and shame. When Death and Shame would woo Him last, From under the trees they drew Him last: 'Twas on a tree they slew Him—last When out of the woods He came. "And  there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground."
